Showing Up With A Purpose
Posted on by Malcolm Munro in Time Management
I’m sitting in the Orlando Airport waiting on my flight to Greenville, SC. This is the second time in a month I’ve been here, both times to teach workshops for HR professionals in the VA.
I must admit that when taking this gig, I fully expected attendees to show up (if they showed up at all) with no real interest in the Time Management and Communication workshops I was leading. After all, it’s Orlando right? I’ve done enough conferences to know that most people attend to network, then to go and play, particularly in the Theme Park Capitol of the U.S.
Boy was I wrong!
Both groups that I worked with were here with a mission: to become strategic partners as HR professionals with all customers, internal and external, in the VA. My classes were packed, the attendees were engaged, and they all came in with clear expectations and goals. It was a great experience for me and hopefully for them!
I guess you could say they showed up with a purpose. It was deliberate. They wanted tools and knowledge. I certainly did my best to deliver.
When was the last time you did something “on purpose”?
Purpose suggests and expected outcome. It begs for something to fill a gap in knowledge. It screams for results.
These past two conferences certainly gave me some things to think about. I’m going to approach my things with a little more purpose!
Will you join me?

Glad we could be a pleasant surprise, Coach! You served up a workshop with IMPACT! . . . and all the little “bugs” have gone back to spread the Munroe Word and impact our work’s purpose on behalf of the Veterans! Best of Life to you and yours!

Is it fine to insert a portion of this in my web site if I submit a reference point to this site?
